Here are some thoughts from Sue on May Queen Ball, as well as some other things that happened afterwards...

-I didn’t have a chance, with all of the activity lately, to let you all know how delighted I was with the performances for MQ Ball. I know many of you have already written about the successful event, how well things worked with the new schedule, and how much excellent work was done by so many in making that event as great as it was. I agree with those accolades, and would only like to add a few thoughts on the performances themselves…I think you all did extremely well in pulling off what was a challenging program of dances and music. I know it wasn’t easy to stay focused and to conquer the nerves on such a busy night, but you did it! I was SO happy with the program, the energy you all brought to it, and the dances presented, particularly where many of you were dancing particular material for the first time. I could go on and on about individual moments that gave me “happy shivers”, but perhaps I’ll do that in person. Suffice it to say that I couldn’t have asked for a better csapat than you all! Le a kalapom!

-although I have spoken with many of you about this individually, I would like to let you know, collectively, that I am completely overwhelmed with the gift you arranged for me. The ring is simply the most precious and meaningful gift you could have conceived, and I have been wearing it ever since that night. Furthermore, I don’t plan to take it off! It’s truly lovely, and I can’t thank you enough for your thoughtfulness and generosity in choosing it for me. XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO

-still on the topic of MQ, I’d like to share with you all a wonderful card we received from Ildi Szilagyi which states, in part, “You guys were HOT! What a terrific performance. I loved the variety, music, costumes, choreography and especially the enthusiasm and high energy that all of you exuded…Thank you all for a well organized, highly entertaining evening. With admiration, Ildi Szilagyi”

-many thanks to those of you who were available to perform on the Mothers’ Day program at the hall. It was a lot to think about, with the hectic preparations for MQ barely over with, but these performances, too, were well received and very well done.

-and finally, I’d like to thank you all for having the fortitude and amazing reserves of energy with which to work under Ricsi’s guidance this past week. I think you’ll agree that he’s a great guy, a super teacher, and lots of fun to be around. I’m so glad we all got this chance to meet and work with him. Also, I am thrilled with his
choreography – it’s gorgeous, it’s elegant, and a very nice contrast to other material we have in our repertoire. But even more, I am delighted with his teaching style and skills, and the way you and he were able to find common ground and work together throughout the week. He feels, and I know, that you will all continue to work on the Bonchidai material, expanding your knowledge of it, and making it your own. For me, the whole workshop will be a complete success when we are all able to thoroughly enjoy improvising this material, and I am sure that this day will come very soon. Thank you also for the many extra efforts you made in inviting Ricsi out, in sharing meals and activities with him, and generally making him feel very welcome in Edmonton - this is the very nicest thing you can do for a guest, and I know he appreciated it all! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
